We are looking for an Industrial Electrician internally referred to as Technician, Maintenance – Electrical who is results-oriented to become a part of our team to support the demands of our ever-growing business!

The Technician, Maintenance – Electrical is accountable for supporting Production by installing, repairing, and maintaining the electrical fixtures, apparatus, control equipment and wiring for the industrial electrical systems. They are responsible for inspecting and maintaining the electrical systems to ensure compliance with the Ontario Electrical Standards Act. Additionally, they perform preventative and corrective maintenance leading to increased up-time and reliability.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
Planning and Reporting (15%)

  • Prepare reports on repairs, design problems, potential equipment failure or unsafe conditions
  • Complete work orders and record material utilized on job

Production (30%)

  • Read and interpret mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations
  • Prepare preliminary drawings, layouts and specifications from verbal or written design criteria
  • Install, maintain, repair and test electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries, hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems and programmable logic controls
  • Install, examine, replace or repair electrical equipment, wiring, fixtures and other components on a routine basis to ensure they remain functional and are up to code
  • Source and evaluate alternative components and materials on a cost/performance basis
  • Install, maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices
  • Collaborate with maintenance team to relocate or install stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment in the plant
  • Collaborate with maintenance team to exchange technical information to facilitate teamwork in troubleshooting and repair process

Line Efficiency (15%)

  • Participate in the Preventative Maintenance program on all equipment for continuous improvement of all electrical components and programming
  • Problem solve line issues i.e., provide suggestions and recommendations to increase accuracy
  • Determine inefficiencies and implement effective processes to increase overall line efficiency

Quality Control (15%)

  • Investigate, experiment and implement controls and programming changes to improve productivity and quality on an ongoing basis

Health and Safety (25%)

  • Assess operating safety devices upon completion of repairs, modifications and installations to ensure proper functioning
  • Oversee required inspections of electrical systems to ensure compliance with the Ontario Electrical Standards Act and identify any hazards or issues
  • Follow health and safety regulations, policies and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS
Education

  • College Certificate or Diploma Certifications
  • 442A – Certificate of Industrial Electrician
  • 309A – Certificate of Construction and Maintenance Electrician
  • Forklift Operator Training Certificate
  • Aerial Lifts Training Certificate

Experience

  • 5 – 10 years as an Industrial Electrician
  • High-volume manufacturing
  • Setup and repair of automation and robotics
  • Experience with trouble shooting robotics preferred

Skills

  • Computer proficiency – Level 5
  • Hands-on technical skills, including; mechanical repair, electrical systems, pneumatic systems and PLCs

WORKING CONDITIONS
This role operates in a production environment; employees are exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes, variable temperatures and fragrances.
